About Our Staff
About Stephanie Mckenzie – Retreats Coordinator and Resident Yogini
In her words, Stephanie shares her deeply personal reasons for making healing her life’s goal.
My passion for healing was borne of my own painful experiences in life and what I did to heal. On the surface, you will observe me as a yoga teacher who leads Yoga and Ayurveda retreats. But the times I sought refuge as a young child in quiet moments within a child pose held in a dark closet.
I found freedom in losing my way in the forest. I’ve felt the vastness of diversity while floating upon the warm sea. I wanted to know a world far removed from all the trappings of modern life.
I was rewarded with insights afforded to those who truly listen to that still small voice while immersed in natural living.
It is through surviving multiple traumas that I have developed a unique skill set that allows me to see the subtle messages your body is screaming. I can hear the words unspoken in your breath.
After all, pain is hard to express in words when you try, but it is plainly visible to those who understand how it manifests. I can see your truth. I do not judge you. I only want to help you see your beauty and to know your true self.
I am thrilled when we find a practice, a ritual that guides you closer to wholeness. I know the ripple effects our work together causes. I know these ripples will be felt for years to come. I know our time together is just the beginning of the birth of a new you.
When I lower my guard and you see me a little closer, you will observe that I am an intuitive healer. I utilize ancient practices and modern science to bring body, mind, and soul into harmony.
I also mentor new retreat leaders while they establish themselves as international teachers. The work I love doing the most is private yoga sessions.
I have formally immersed myself in the study and practice of Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, Curanderismo, Mindfulness, Herbalism, Nurat Boran, Classical and Ecstatic Dance, and Vipassana Meditation.
I have guided many ceremonies, honoring moments in lives that are all too fleeting.
Furthermore, I am experienced at curating and facilitating life-changing experiences. I utilize ancient healing practices and modern science to bring truth to the surface of consciousness.
I am a lightning rod for chaos. When you cross my path, you are in the midst of a personal transition.

“Hi Scott and Mark!
Just landed in Miami and wanted to tell you what a fabulous trip the entire group had at Samasati. The place was in the best condition I have ever seen it and food was fabulous. It was a very special week for me, especially seeing the girls after two years. Families and community seem so happy with the program.”
-Sally B
“I and my retreat guests had an AMAZING time at Samasati!! Stephenie was beyond wonderful in supporting us to schedule our time both at the retreat doing yoga and nutrition classes, and also exploring the area with various adventures.
Becca led gentle yoga classes that worked perfectly for the beginners as well as those who had been doing yoga for quite a while. Having her available for massages, fairy cards, and hilarious conversations over dinner was a highlight for all of us.
The food was incredibly delicious and the chefs and Stephanie made sure that all of our meals were made vegan, since that was the focus of the retreat. It was such a treat to not even have to think about getting balanced nutrition, because it was all just there waiting for us to fill up our plates!
They also set up an area for me to do a cooking demo and nutrition classes through the week. Scott was a very knowledgeable hiking guide and coordinator for our excursions.
Overall, it was a pretty magical experience for all of us, and I am beyond grateful to all of the staff who made our stay in the rainforest so special. Thank you!!!”
Through transparent conversations, we will help price & customize retreats based on retreat length, number of guests and any enhancements you choose. These can be Cacao ceremonies, ecstatic dance, nature hikes, excursions, cultural activities, beach visits and more.
