Day 1: From the city of San Jose we set out through the Braulio Carillo National Park towards the Caribbean coast – destination: Samasati. Once at Samasati, you can relax and soak in the large Jacuzzi while looking at the sunset.
Day 2: RAIN FOREST CANOPY TOUR. Nearby Samasati, eight aerial platforms joined by 1,200 meters of cable are nestled into the jungle. Our professional guide will help you travel from one platform to the other securely attached to the cable. He will teach you the names of plants, animals, and how the local indigenous use some of the herbs you will see. You will enjoy the jungle from up above.
Day 3: HORSEBACK RIDING AT THE BEACH. Well-trained horses and an expert guide will accompany you in this adventurous excursion on the wild beach of Cahuita National Park. At first, in order to get familiar with the horse, you will be taken on a brief horse's walk on the jungle’s trails. You will then move to the beach where the horses can either keep walking, trot or take you for a breathtaking gallop. A stop for swimming and resting on the beach is included in the day's program.
Day 4: Free day. Shuttle to the beach available.
Day 5: WHITE WATER RAFTING. The Pacuare River is world famous for its beauty. A true river gorge, it is flanked by steep, green walls. You will see waterfalls cascade into the river from both sides. Wildlife is abundant: sloth, toucans, parrots, coatis, butterflies and colorful frogs are common sights. Other inhabitants of this jungle: monkeys, jaguars, peccaries and tapirs generally stay more hidden. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has many rapids that will make your adventure very interesting and fun. The 18-mile-one-day-run includes a total of 38 rapids. Few rivers in the world can offer you so many rapids in such a short stretch of water.
Upon arrival to the river you will get geared up with a life jacket, helmet and paddle and then briefed with a full safety orientation talk by expert guides. The first 4 miles consist of class II-III rapids, a great time to test your new river skills, gain confidence in your team, and have fun. After about 40 minutes you will enter the Pacuare River Gorge, which is 5 miles long. After the gorge the river opens up to a 5-mile stretch called "Pacuare’s Valley." The river becomes wide open, giving you the opportunity to rest a bit and watch the varied wildlife. The final 3 miles are filled with class III rapids that will carry you all the way to the end.
Day 6: SURFING LESSON. You don't need to be a professional surfer to experience the thrill of riding a wave. Our instructor is experienced and the Caribbean Sea is gentle with first-time surfers. Don't miss the opportunity! We will provide you with a surf board and the time of your life.
Day 7: Free day. Shuttle to the beach available.
Day 8: Departure for San Jose scheduled based on your airline’s flight time.
